AAWC Climate and Water Round-table
As the world moves forward with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the role of parliaments is integral in strengthening the international response to climate change. This includes a wider range of tools in shaping a policy and regulatory framework that promotes mitigation and adaptation of climate change.
Furthermore, while the government and corporations have been the main actors in solving water issues so far, it is now time for the Parliament, the legislative body, to step forward together to make synergy. The political support from parliamentarians will lead to improvements in the finance and legislative sectors that were difficult to achieve through existing cooperation, and it will contribute to the tangible solution for achieving SDGs and responses on water issues.
This roundtable brings together diverse stakeholders, including parliamentarians, government representatives, public institutions, private companies, and international organizations. It will serve as a platform to share key national issues in the climate and water sectors, project demands, and best practices of ongoing or planned projects. Through the exchange of such information and in-depth discussions, we aim to develop actionable follow-up measures tailored to current needs. Based on these outcomes, we will strive to ensure collaboration between AAWC, governments, and private companies leads to projects.
